things in new places

over these past few days i think it has really clicked with miss p and this walking thing. she has been walking around like it’s her job! it is sooo cute. she has made so much progress literally over night. and now she loves picking things up (especially from the pantry) and carrying them to me or in random places….where i find them later. and it makes me smile. i love it. (until i can’t find something that i really really need right at that moment…i know who to blame) ;) but seriously. loving this. (which reminds me i’m behind on her 11 months photos. must get on that). here are just a few “things in new places” i found around the house this past week.

1. taco seasoning in my closet 2. paci in cheerios box 3. toothpaste in guest bathroom cabinet. :)

cedar fever is evil

can i just say that these two guys are my best friends right about now….and especially at night. they let me sleep. it’s amazing. i don’t know if you have seasonal allergies, but cedar fever is the WORST for me. i get it every year around this time. and you would think i have learned and would work on that. well i try, but i’m the type…if i am feeling fine then i don’t take anything…as in i don’t take allergy meds every day when i feel fine…but i should apparently. ;) anyways….the black elderberry night formula is great! (tastes great too) and the neilmed sinus rinse. they seem to be doing the job because i am not waking up from constant sneezing, dripping, blowing my nose and waking up to a huge wet wad of kleenex on the floor.

this cedar fever has definitely interfered with my energy level and ability to stay up late…which isn’t helpful right now because i need to be using my nights crafting for P’s party…this saturday. :) oh well. doing the best i can. and there’s a few people that are helping. thank you!!!

well hope y’all have a happy tuesday!

still going strong

i know it’s only been a week, but i am pretty proud of myself for keeping up with my resolutions. :) one of my favorite resolutions (oddly) is flossing every day. now, yes i am guilty of not flossing everyday. don’t judge. a friend of mine had this is her resolution last year and did it, and clearly i was inspired. i used to hate flossing. now i enjoy it. it’s a total mind game, but it’s working. (proud of me dad??)

what are some of your resolutions??

what an eventful morning

so a dear friend of mine asked me if i would be a part of her natural home birth for her sweet baby boy. ummmm….of course! i was soooo excited and literally felt like it was my baby with all the waiting and not knowing when he was going to come. so i had my bags packed. sure enough i get a call at 12:08am this morning and i headed out asap! took me about 50 minutes to get there and then one more hour later sweet Emerson Obanion blessed us with his presence. i won’t go into details but let’s just say everything could not have gone any better. praise the Lord. what a miracle…and to be a part of it! once in a life time!! (unless someone else asks me too) ;) the little family is doing awesome and is crazy in love!

it was so awesome to be on the other side this time. AND they had the same midwife and assistants that we had with penelope. it was like a lil reunion. love those ladies. came home early this morning and was able to take a 2.5 hr nap with miss p. very much needed. can’t wait to watch this lil man grow up!

another side project: painting makeover

so i’ve had some painted canvases (that i wasn’t really feeling) stashed in my closet for quite some time now and i finally busted out with one to give it some tlc. i saw this painting on pinterest (of course) and so i gave it a go.

here’s the before. had to give it a couple of coats of white paint first off. i used the lovely cheap/fast drying acrylic paint. and i patiently waited for it to dry. then i painted a lil yellow here and there as the background. (meanwhile while it dried) i printed out the words i wanted to paint and cut them out. i sort of cheated this way…..but it gets the letters the same exact height and size and aligned nicely without all the hassle, so yes i cheated. ;)

i just taped the paper on the canvas and traced the letters. ***it would have been nice if i used freezer paper and ironed it on the canvas…then i could have just painted straight over the paper and been done. but i chickened out in fear of it not working and then have to start all over) :) so instead i went back and just painted the letters by hand, which took a little longer on the edges but oh well. i enjoyed it.

yay. i love how it turned out. simple. :) also…here’s a before the painting photo of the wall. lots and lots of frames (and yes some of them are crooked. adds character)

and the new wall. (and yes there is an empty frame on the right. hopefully that will be fixed soon. actually most of them need to be updated with new photos. need to stop slacking)

so can i just say that this photo right here is a nice representation of my life at the moment…unfinished projects and baby! hahaha. (not complaining though!) first off there’s a blank frame and some outdated photos on the wall. second, there are 4 vintage hangers to the left in our living room….waiting for the posters to flatten out so i can hang them. they are currently under a ton of heavy things. hopefully that is working. oh and yes that’s our entry way hall area and that is where the super fun mini playscape lives. P LOVES this thing (thanks grandma and pa-paw!) so i can’t move it. clearly. she plays on it all the time climbing up the slide and going down it on her bottom by herself! oh and the new thing is she loves to sit at the top of the slide and roll things down it to me. too cute! one day we will get a fun vintagey/salvaged console table to sit below the frames and painting. but for now i’m enjoying it all like it is. one day at a time people. one.day.at.a.time.

someone’s turning one soon…

source
so it’s january. which means my sweet adorable baby will be one soon. what?!? i knew this day was coming soon but man it feels like this past year went by sooo fast. i know we all say that, but seriously. so a new project (because i don’t have enough going on already)….preparing for her first birthday party!!

it’ll be a fun, family filled party. ALL of our immediate family is coming!! so excited! pretty sure last time that happened it was our wedding day. anywho, it’s going to fun! and all handmade! well for the most part. so let the little projects begin because i have less than 2 weeks to plan/prepare! and yes, i have been stalking pinterest like it’s my job. so thank you pinterest for helping me and at the same time making my life harder with alllll these awesome ideas. you can see my party ideas on pinterest here! (it may or may not be a rainbow theme) :)

**if you have any ideas to share then please do!!! or even just some advice on the whole 1st birthday shenanigan. i’m a rookie.

so be prepared to read a few posts about miss P’s birthday bash. oh, and i might have gone overboard on the researching inspiration ideas because i already have ideas for future birthday parties! ha.

new year, new blog

well not really a new blog (since the mister said i had to keep this design layout for at least a year) ;) but just a new purpose i guess you can say. lately PLC has been mainly a crafty corner, but i feel that i have been slacking in that area and therefore not able to blog as much as i’d like. then i saw my tagline…”handmade, life, and pretty things,” sooo i felt it was appropriate to add a little more “life” into it. meaning i’m going to get down and personal so watch out. haha jk. but i do want to share more personal things in my life and what’s going on around me and what i believe.

so i hope this doesn’t run any of you loyal readers off, but instead lets you get a little closer to me and hopefully vise versa! don’t worry i won’t go crazy on the life stories and will definitely be keeping the crafty/DIY area high up there. so here’s to a new year and a new blog!!
