onesie makeover

remember when i thought i was dyeing the right color for P’s halloween costume? well the FIRST one i did came out with a stain. (then i did another yellow one which is nice and pretty, but then realized it needed to be orange so did another one…thank goodness i had lots of white onesies). anyways, if you know me then you know i keep everything that i think can be used for some type of makeover/craft. so clearly, i kept the messed up yellow onesie. and here’s a cute/super easy makeover.

1. materials: old/stained clothing, lace (or other trimmings), pins, and sewing maching (or you could be really cool/patient and hand sew it)
2. measure the lace, cut the lace, fold the ends over and sew ends
3. pin in place
4. sew it down
5. and done! easy peasy.

*a little bit goes a long way. i love easy makeovers!

9 & 10 months

soo i’m a slacker and didn’t take 9 month pics. booo. but here are a few of her when she was 9 months. such a ham!! the last two pics crack me up! the rest are her 10 months. these were taken at her BFF’s 1st birthday party…which will be another post itself. :)

this girl is such a goof. she’s sooo active. (i think her gym class helps with that) ;) she crawls everywhere around the house, following us from room to room. she loves to talk, and i really think she can say dog. ah-dorable. she loves her molly panda, even if molly walks away when she comes near her. haha. she loves to stand up and walk along holding on to stuff. she also does squats too. pretty impressive. already building up those muscles. :) she loves food. just like her mama. except for vegetables. just like her daddy. sigh. she loves being with her family and playing with her friends. oh and she loves to play in the dirt and tries to eat rocks. awesome. she’s getting so big! excited for her first Thanksgiving and for her to try lots of new foods! :)

**see her little onesie? i bedazzled it for her. i’ll show you how/why in a post coming up!

canvas portraits

remember this post?? well i finally finished! i used elsie’s DIY canvas portrait tutorial. i just used four 8×10 canvases and printed out the photos on regular printer paper. i might have rubbed off the paper a little too much, oops! but i still love them. totally going for the vintagey look. ;)

photo 1: last belly series pic i had before P was born, and 2, 3, & 4: the day she was born, being weighed, and being held by her daddy. i think i’m going to do something to the edges to spice it up a little and add some color. maybe some fabric or glitter…ha the mister might not like the glitter. ;) but right now i will admire them and the wonderful memories of that amazing day.

DIY felt flower pillow

it’s about time for a little DIY action over here. you can never have too many throw pillows!

1. materials: i had some lovely grayish blue corduroy fabric that needed to be made into something. i went ahead and used two different colors of felt for the petals but one color (or lots) looks great too. i just winged it with the petals and didn’t worry about exact shapes and sizes. you need lots too!
*** i didn’t take pics on how i made the actual pillow case, but i found rachel’s lovely envelope pillow case tutorial over HERE. which is pretty much the same way i did mine. super easy!
*** before you sew the front and back pieces together you will want to sew the petals on the front piece first! makes life much easier that way.
2. find your mixing bowls to trace for the circles. (or anything you like, but these really worked).
3. i started tracing the top part of the bowls and eventually used the bottom part for the smaller circles. they ended up being about every 1/2″
4. this is what mine looked like. i just traced with a pen. (love her wrist roll) :)
5. start laying out the order you want the petals to be in. i overlapped mine a little bit.
6. now start sewing! i followed the circle with the petals which made the petals stand up a bit.
7. this is what it looks like when you get to the last circle.
8. for the middle i just took a one petal and hand sewed it down. i almost did some beads or buttons in the middle. that would look cute too!
9. now you can sew the front and back pieces together using rachel’s tutorial and yay! a new, fun pillow! these would be great for Christmas coming up too!

slowly but surely adding some color to this home. :) let me know if you try this tut yourself!!

first halloween

well her first experience was a success. P met up with her little neighborhood buddies, had a mini photo shoot of course, and then went trick or treating. :)

the more pictures we took the more they moved. they give us about 30 seconds and then they move on. lol

she did very well with her costume (candy corn!) she surprisingly didn’t mess with her tutu or her massive bow. such a good girl. ;)

she made it longer than i thought. another mama let me wear her ergo for the last part of the walk and i think P loved it. she pretty much fell asleep after 5 minutes. i need to get one of those! :)

we went back home to hand out candy to the other kiddos and hang out with P’s bestie and her rents. so much fun. (*thanks H for staying up past your bedtime!) it was a good first experience. next year P will get to walk herself to the doors! eeeek. slow down!

let’s see how many years i can get away with making her costumes.
